Transitional House Criteria

Family Promise of Hendricks County operates three transitional homes: Moon Pie House, Sapphire House, and Butterfly House. All three are shared living environments — each resident or family has a private bedroom, while the bathroom, kitchen, and living areas are shared common spaces.

How Placement Works

If you have a client who meets the three basic criteria for a home, the process typically begins with an initial meeting between Soraya and the applicant, followed by a second appointment to view the home. Placement is based on ensuring a good fit for both the applicant and the existing household, since the goal is long-term stability and success.

Meeting the criteria below does not guarantee approval. It allows Soraya to move forward with the rest of the assessment.

To make a referral, send Soraya the applicant's contact information along with a brief description of their situation, and she will reach out as her schedule allows.

Moon Pie House

Serves single men for a stay of six months to one year.
Applicants must be employed for a minimum of three months, have adequate transportation, and be able to pay $550.00 in monthly rent.
Recent bank statements and pay stubs are required as part of the application process.

Sapphire House

Serves single women for a stay of six months to one year.
Applicants must be employed for a minimum of three months, have adequate transportation, and be able to pay $450.00–$550.00 in monthly rent.
Recent bank statements and pay stubs are required as part of the application process.

Butterfly House

Serves single mothers who have custody of their child or children, for a stay of six months to one year.
Applicants must be employed for a minimum of three months, have adequate transportation, and be able to pay $500.00–$600.00 in monthly rent.
Recent bank statements and pay stubs are required as part of the application process.
