Almost Home Shelter
Almost Home is Family Promise's overnight shelter for families experiencing homelessness—a safe, welcoming place where parents and children can begin their journey toward stability.
Made possible through the generous support of the RJS Foundation, our 5,000-square-foot shelter opened in August 2022. With seven private bedrooms and family-centered spaces, Almost Home provides more than just a place to sleep. It offers families the opportunity to recover from the trauma of homelessness in a secure, supportive environment while taking meaningful steps toward a brighter future.
Individualized Family Support
Each family is paired with a dedicated Family Advocate who provides intensive, individualized case management tailored to their unique needs. Families receive coaching in financial literacy, education, and employment to help them build the skills and confidence needed for long-term success. Our team also assists with benefits acquisition, ensuring families are connected to and fully utilizing the community resources and public benefits available to support their journey toward self-sufficiency.
Families are also connected to a network of supportive services based on their individual needs. This includes referrals for disability evaluations and other health-related assessments, connections to behavioral health and community resources, and assistance enrolling children in school or early childhood education programs to ensure they have the support they need to thrive.
A Personalized Path to Stability
Together, families and their advocates develop a personalized plan focused on securing permanent housing, increasing income, accessing essential resources, and overcoming barriers to stability.
Most families stay at Almost Home for 30 to 90 days before moving into a home of their own. During their time with us, they receive the support, encouragement, and practical tools needed to regain independence, strengthen their family, and create a lasting foundation for a brighter future.
